Tonya E. Brown, DVM, DACVIM
(Small Animal Internal Medicine)
Dr. Tonya E. Brown (previously Boyle) grew up in Kennebunk, Maine, and is proud to call the Seacoast home. Announcing at the age of three that she would become a veterinarian, she remained dedicated throughout her life to achieving and maintaining her goal to be the best possible doctor for her clients and patients. Also, from a young age, Dr. Brown volunteered every chance she could at local veterinary hospitals and worked many years as a veterinary technician. She graduated with a B.A. from Colby College in Waterville, ME, and then became established in Madison, WI, to attain her veterinary degree. After graduating from the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, she completed a competitive small animal rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. This rigorous program reinforced her passion for complicated medical cases and her dedication to helping her clients provide the best quality of life possible for their pets. Dr. Brown worked as a general practitioner and emergency doctor in Maine for a year between her internship and residency programs and loved the time she spent with her family. She then completed a coveted three-year Internal Medicine Residency at North Carolina State University. She passed her exams, had her publication accepted, and became Boarded in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Brown has been proud to work for a busy referral hospital here on the Seacoast for the past twelve years. She is honored to be the Chair of the NHVMA Continuing Education committee for her 11th year. Dr. Brown is now excited to be the founder of Birch Veterinary Internal Medicine.
